Surrealism Theme

Title: Surrealistic Theme For my surreal photomontage I would like to do a self portrait. I am going to do something for my life and future of the meaning of it. I will be finding a photo of hands bent and a certain way. For the background of what you will be able to see through my hands I will be finding an image of light shining down though the clouds. The photos that I will be taking are what are going to tie this all together. I will be taking photos of what is going to happen in my life from now to when I am a stable adult and what I am going to want to accomplish.
1)    My background is going to be mysterious and something that makes you get all these thoughts with the light shining down. The hands will be faded so you can still see the background through them to give that surrealistic vibe. My background is dark but it has a interesting side of the sunset with the leading of light.

2)    This is the same meaning but the hands will represent the future. The hands will be faded so you can still see the background through them to give that surrealistic vibe the fingers will have my future objects coming off the tips of them into the light above. It means that it’s in my hands on the tips of my fingers and I have to go and grab it now. All my objects of the future will be leading up to this light in a crossing form because it’s not going to be easy.

Surrealism

George Grie was born May 14th 1962 and is a Russian Canadian artist. He is one of the first digital artists and is known for numerous 3D and 2D and also matte painting images. His style has been heavily influenced by famous surrealists such as Rene Magritte and Salvador Dali. The artist’s digital neo-surrealistic artworks are an extraordinary visual record of his conceptual thoughts, philosophic views, fantasies, and dreams. Often journeying into the subconscious, Grie's photo-realistic artwork shows a magical, playful, and dream-like world laced with detail.
Vladimir Kush was born 1965 in Moscow and began to draw and show his artistic ability at the age of three and four. His father, Oleg encouraged his natural talent at an early age. However he was soon commissioned to paint propagandistic posters, rather than perform the functions of regular infantry. Kush states that his style has been influenced by these major artists: Monet, Botticelli, Bosch, Van Gogh, Durer, Schinkel, Vermeer and Dali. His father believed they drew the audience in to accept the impossible images and explore the different levels of meaning since they were painted realistic enough to see the metaphors contained in them.

Artist’s Name: George Grie
Title: Ice Age Premonition
Date: 2007
Description: A cold dark & cloudy ocean with a large Ice Age in the center of it. Standing in the ocean with no boundaries you see the light shine on the one side of the Ice Age and in the background has that dark look. He made the stairs look old and house falling apart but still holding strong.
Analysis:  From looking at it left to right you see dark low tones on the left with birds flying across on the right in some bright high tones. Going up and down is all about the Ice Age with high key tones making your eye focus on all the details. It is a combination of 2D and also 3D.
Interpretation: I find the meaning of this piece very powerful. I feel as If he is trying to explain the freedom of the world at their disposal. Lonely , alien, cold remind me of somewhat reserved, self-sufficient people in a crowd of unfamiliar faces.
Judgment: I think Grie made a good piece showing the different tones throughout the whole piece and the idea and thought you get just looking at the piece and to others of the world.

Artist’s Name: Vladimir Kush
Title: Departure of the Winged Ship
Date: N/A
Description: His colors are very sharp bold and bright they stand out with the shades on the butterflies and on the boat. The ocean has the colors of blue and green but them flowing together as one. There are a lot of shapes and smooth lines and textures.
Analysis: Your eyes go right to the butterflies they have so much detail and color along with the sky. Towards the bottom of the image it’s darker with the waves of the ocean in a green color. The people have this shadow look to them as if the sun was shining in front of them and not behind them.
Interpretation: I believe the artists are trying to show us happiness and freeness. For the war or etc: to be over butterflies fly so I believe it’s telling us to do what we believe in and it will come. Also the people standing there with flags show freeness and peace.
Judgment: His artwork is a success because looking at it you get all these feelings of meaning as well as the strong of colors which leads you to happiness.

Compare & Contrast: Between the photograph and between the drawings they are totally different but almost giving the sane meaning. The ones dark and bold with the ice age that your eye takes notice of. The others one just so bright and vibrant with bold colors. Grie’s  subject matter was not filled but did not have to be filled to get his pint across where in Kush’s everywhere you look there is something to see with full subject matter.

Hockney Project

This is my brother Joshua using him for this project was alot of fun. For someone who always wants to be outside with his friends I actually got him to sit down for a few minutes. In this picture I used high key and made each picture very cloe up. Also with the lighting a his skin tone each picture had a good complexion.

For this picture I have used my fridge. Using my fridge I thought was a different idea. I used it becuase there is alot of color and many different things in their that is going on. With the Hockney Project that this is based on I thought this would be an idea with some difference.
